System of checks and balances

The System of Checks and balances was initiated to prevent a misuse of powers. Each branch has to control the other two.

The executive (President) branch has the right to appoint jugdes and to veto laws passed by the Congress

The legislative (Congress) branch is able to overrule a presidental veto by a two - thirds majority of the Congress.

The judicial (Courts) branch has the ability to impeach the President and the Judges.
